A Brief Introduction to Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School
Shanghai
Pinghe Bilingual School is a boarding school established in
September 1996 with full operational and financial
independence authorized by its board of directors, Shanghai
Jinqiao Group. It was authorized to take overseas students
in 2001.
In September 2002, the school launched the International
Baccalaureate Diploma Program in the high school section.
The application of this program passed the examination of
the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in May
2003, and the school has been a member school of the IBO
since then.
Pinghe School
with its campus designed by a renowned Canadian architect is
located in Jin Qiao Green International Community in Pudong,
Shanghai. The beautiful campus with its unique and
human-oriented design offers a warm and cozy atmosphere and
fosters the school culture which is known as Modest but not
Mediocre, Harmonious but not Homogenous, which enables
students to spend each and every one of their school days
happily.
All subjects
except Chinese literature are taught by both foreign and
Chinese teachers as required. In August 2004, we set up the
International Program Department
for the international students. In October 2005, the school underwent the
scrutiny of CITA, which is an international and
cross-regional accreditation organization, and was granted
as a member school for CITA China Model School
accreditation. In December 2004, the school was recognized
as one of the first bilingual schools in Shanghai.
The school sticks
to human-centered education and holds the educational
philosophy of “Elite, High Caliber and World Citizen”. With
the unanimous effort made by the staff, all grades in the
primary and middle schools have ranked at the top in Pudong
district examinations soon after the school was founded.
The 4 batches of high school graduates with their
outstanding academic performance and high entrance rate into
the world’s top 100 colleges and universities have aroused
intensive attention and wide appreciation of such
universities as Stanford, Cornel, UC Berkley,
Imperial College of Science and
Technology, UBC, University of Toronto, etc.
Students winning
scholarships take up over 40 per cent of the overall high
school graduates.
The school
observes the laws of education, based on students’ healthy
growth and well-rounded development, carries out quality
education, during which we focus on students’ practice and
experience in the process. We encourage creative mindsets
and abilities while sticking to the combination of Chinese
and western education, Chinese and western cultures as well
as science and humanity.
We aim to pursue
high quality teaching in its core subjects and enable
students to achieve high scores and abilities. The school is
trying to make its management in teaching as effective as
possible, strengthen its quality mechanism, attach great
importance to the fundamentals in the teaching process, make
sure students acquire basic concepts of learning and improve
teachers’ classroom teaching efficiency. The graduation rate
of our grade 5 and grade 9 students has been 100% ever since
we started and the excellence rate in Chinse, Math and
English has been Grade A. Since 2002, the middle school
section has been in the lead in Pudong regarding the
examination marks of all subjects and all grade levles.
Moreover, the middle school graduation rate has been 100%

characters into the computer by using Pinyin, which will lay
